Presentation copy: 'For Graham and Maxine with love from the author 7th March '95 (publication date is 5th April).' The book is dedicated to Maxine Langford-Holt. Loosely inserted handwritten postcard of the 500 Genii Temple from Seward to 'My dear Max' dated 29. v. 96 and consisting of about 80 words in which he thanks her for his official birthday and hopes she likes the postcard 'purchased by my grandmother on a visit to China in 1912.' Also loosely inserted Pashley Manor Gardens leaflet. Plastic cover a little bubbled on spine, margins slightly tanned. Desmond Seward (born 1935) is a popular historian and author of numerous books. 0712651330
