Containing information on Dutch etchings, William Blake, Sculpture in Belgium, Gerard David, Japanese wood engravings, Antoine Watteau, The Isle of Wight, Raphael in Rome, the Etchings of Rembrandt, Josiah Wedgwood, Malta, Jules Bastien-Lepage, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Frederick Walker, the early works of Raphael, the art of William Quiller Orchardson, Claude Lorrain, and Whitehall. Philip Gilbert Hamerton (September 10, 1834 November 4, 1894), was an English artist and art critic and author. With bookplate of Nottingham Subscription Library to front pastedowns. Including seventy-six plates (collated complete) and numerous illustrations in the text. Complete in four volumes. In a half-morocco binding. Externally rubbed, though with joints starting. Internally, binding slightly strained. Some tissue-guards are detached. Pages are quite bright and mainly clean, with just the odd spot. One plate detached. Institutional ink stamp to title page of title page. Good Only
