About This Item

E. Saunders & Co., 1908. Hardcover. Good+. Used leatherbound edition of FOUR volumes REBOUND into TWO volumes. Rebinding is done in quarterbound red leather with red cloth boards. Raised leather bands on spine with fine gold adornments surrounding title and author. Volume 1 states 'Vols. I-II' and Volume II states 'Vols. III-IV', defining order of the rebound pages. Red/blue/cream marbled page block edges. Overall there is scuffing to boards and wear to the edges of boards from shelfwear per usual. There are some small scratches throughout the red cloth of each volume from age. Bumping to corners and top/bottom of spines have left wear with little cardboard exposed. Volume II is generally in finer condition with less scratches to boards and overall nicer appearance, however gnerally volumes are comparable. Pages are warped generally, though this doesn't seem to be water damage as much as something else due to the lack of crinkling; pages are wavy but tight. Bindings are more than well done and have no cocking or weakness after X# of years since rebinding. There are no markings to the inside of the volumes or outside boards.
