An important book because it is an honest summary of the state of current knowledge about humanity. I've only recently acquired some of the background the author assumes for the reader, so I have a better appreciation for the author's viewpoints now than a decade ago when the book was first published. Each of us in some way must travel this road toward understanding our roots - free of cultural, religious and personal bias.
