Gift inscription, dated 1974, inked on mildly spotted front free endpaper, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Dust jacket spine sun-faded, lightly bumped on edges. Not price clipped. Describes the ways in which the British lived in India from the early adventurous period of the East India Company until the days just before the outbreak of the second world war.
