1989. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. Signed by Author. (Shrewsbury, England: Airlife Publishing Ltd. 1989). First UK Edition. SIGNED & INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR (A BATTLE OF BRITAIN HERO TO A WW2 HERO. Publisher's black boards with gilt lettering to the spine. A VG copy (a couple of corners bumped and cockling to a group of pages in the middle of the book possibly caused by water damage). The VG+ dustwrapper is priced £15.95 to the inside flap with the spine slightly faded to a lighter hue. Inscribed by the Author to the front free end-paper: "To Eric & Inge --- both of whom/ I've known all their 'legal/ lives' in the Liverpool/ Courts ---/ With my warmest wishes/ Ray Holmes". The Recipient, Eric Goldrein was a WW2 hero who captured 60 German soldiers while wounded during the Normandy landings. He later became a Liverpool barrister. Ray Holmes was an RAF Battle of Britain hero who was a journalist covering the Liverpool courts post-war which is how they met. A superb ASSOCIATION COPY between two notable WW2 heroes.
