About This Item

Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A.: Johns Hopkins Univ Pr, 2007. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. The accounts of some twenty-five ill-fated vessels--Spanish galleons, German U-boats, and presidential yachts among them--claimed by a treacherous portion of the Atlantic coast. First printing with correct full number line sequence. Overall this is a beautiful copy with no writing, marks, underlining, or bookplates. No remainder marks. Not an ex-library copy. Spine is tight and crisp. Corners are square, and the dark green boards are clean, flat and true with virtually no edge wear. The book's only flaw is to be found on top and foreedge of the textblock, which are quite soiled/smudged with what could be described as pencil dust. Some of this smudging also appears lightly along the top and right edges of the front endpapers. Dust jacket is not clipped, but there is no price. Dust jacket has some minor shelf wear including some wavy edges, some light scuffs and scrapes, and a few small areas of soiling to the back cover. A lovely addition to any maritime history collection! This collectible, near fine/very good+, first edition/first printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. Satisfaction guaranteed!
