The management of the Ruhr cooperated with Hitley, the operated primarily for their own objectives, which were less destrutive than those of the regime. The author used substantial new informaiton from government and private sources to illuminate the important role played by the heavy industry in preserving traditions considered valuable in the post-Nazi era.
