About This Item
Although he had a distinguished career in economics and banking -- he is responsible for instituting bank holidays and other reforms -- it is as a writer on entomology and archeology that he is remembered; his "Pre-historic Times" (1865) was long the standard textbook on archeology. ANS, 1p, 4½" X 7", London, England, n.y. April 7. Addressed to A.L. Williams. Very good. Faint mounting trace on left edge, not affecting text. Gracious note to an admirer. "I am flattered by your wish for a Photograph, & have the pleasure of sending one accordingly...." (Photograph not present.).
