The story of the daughter of an English missionary to China who gets involved in the massacre of Christians in 1870. Her parents are killed and she is takrn into captivity as a concubine where she remains for many years. When she escapes, she finds she has little in common with the "arrogant, stuffy Europeans--" . The book is bound in ivory cloth over spine with bold, bright gilt titles, blue boards, very clean, unmarked, faint rubbing to some edges; tight, solid and square. Internals in Fine Condition, pages lightly toned. Clean jacket is edgeworn, chipped at spine head and heel. 630 pages. 8.5 x 5.75 inches. 1982, St Martin's Press, New New York, USA
