Printed by Michael and Winifred Bixler. Illustrated by the great French-Polish artist Balthus. Rilke was a childhood friend of Balthus, who did these watercolors as a tribute to Rilke. Keiji Shinohara reproduced the illustrations as multi-colored woodcuts. One of an edition limited to 300 numbered copies, signed by the artist.

Synopsis
The Sonnets to Orpheus are a collection of 55 sonnets written in 1922 by the poet Rainer Maria Rilke (1875–1926). The work is based on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, and is considered one of his masterpieces.
