About This Item
London: Methuen & Co. Ltd.., 1913. An interesting Association Copy. Belgian playright Maurice Maeterlinck won the Nobel Prize in 1911, Like many of his literary contemporaries, he became interested in mysticism and spiritualism; this is an expansion of an erlier essay. Here is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the First Edition [stated "First Published in 1913"]. This copy has been SIGNED by the famed English author H. RIDER HAGGARD on the Copyright Page. In addition, there is the stamp of Haggard's grandson, Mark Edmonstone Cheyne. Haggard signed and inscribed many books, but a personal copy is unusual. Very Good condition. Blue cloth binding with titling and decorations in gilt on the spine and front cover. Clean text; vi, 243 pages. Frontis illustration (after G.F. Watts); top-edge is gilt, with others rough-cut. Translation by Alexander Teixira De Mattos. Mild bumping, with light edgewear; spine a tiny bit faded. Browning to the endpapers. In an archival plastic protector.. Signed by H Rider Haggard. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
