About This Item

Chicago: Flying Fish Records. New Vinyl Record/In Record Sleeve. 1978. 33 1/3 RPM LP VINYL RECORD. NEW, STILL SEALED ORIGINAL 1978 VINYL LP RECORD. Flying Fish Records: GRO-751. David Amram performs the three-part "Triple Concerto" plus "Elegy for Violin and Orchestra," the latter featuring classical violinist Howard Weiss. Amram's goal was to combine classical, folk and world music from several countries with touches of jazz. "Triple Concerto" utilizes three quintets (woodwinds, brass and jazz) and such players as baritonist Pepper Adams and altoist Jerry Dodgion (along with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra). Amram plays piano, French horn, Pakistani flute and dumbek. He calls the concept "music without walls." .
