New York: Henry Holt & Company, 1923. First trade edition. Wear to the edges and dampstaining to the bottom portion of the spine and covers, with contemporary ownership inscription. Very Good, lacking the extremely scarce dustwrapper.. Signed and inscribed by Frost on the flyleaf. One of Frost's most notable books and winner of his first Pulitzer Prize.

London: Charles Griffin and Co, 1864. Good plus in publisher's red cloth with paper title panel to spine, with some wear to extremities, tanning of paper and wear, loss and age-darkening to paper spine panel.. From the library of George MacDonald with his bookplate to the front pastedown. In addition to MacDonald's ownership, this volume comes from the library of Maude Egerton King with her bookplate on the flyleaf. Ms. King was a friend of Greville Macdonald (and niece of George MacDonald by marriage), the son of George Macdonald, and it appears to have come into her possession in 1906, one year after George MacDonald's passing. Inscription to Ms. King, in what appears to be Greville MacDonald's hand, dated 1906. 12mo. 252pp.

London: Thos. Shrimpton and Son, 1878. Very good in original gray-green printed wrappers which are a bit browned at edges and with a few small chips. Now housed in a custom chemise and green morocco-backed slipcase.. First Edition. With crest on wrapper, title page, and with woodcut on the last page. Wilde's first book. Wilde's poem was the Newdigate Prize winner for 1878, presented at Oxford University for best poetry. "During a vacation ramble in 1877 [Wilde] started from Greece, [and] visiting Ravenna by chance on the way, he obtained material for a poem on that ancient city, and singularly enough, Ravenna was afterwards given out as the topic for the Newdigate competition." (Hamilton, The Aesthetic Movement in England, as quoted by Mason, pg. 243). 8vo. 16pp. Mason, pg. 241.

Philadelphia: American S.[unday] School Union, 146 Chestnut Street, 1853. Good with foxing, prior owners name in ink twice and final leaf torn a bit but not affecting text.. Brief chapbook with one woodcut illustration and the ominous warning to the presumably impressionable young audience, "take warning in from these examples, and remember that life and health are given thee only to prepare for the tremendous and important hour of death". 32mo. [2], [3]-8pp. Not in Rosenbach. In publisher's wraps, but this appears to be a variant as the rear wrapper has different wording that OCLC 950909583.

Later half calf over marbled boards, title-label; fore-edge of t.p. strengthened at edge; occasional soiling, stains and foxing; missing portrait but with later portrait glued in. In all very good.. Dryden, who greatly admired Waller and consistently treated him as mentor and precursor, claimed that 'the well-placing of words, for the sweetness of pronunciation, was not known till Mr. Waller introduced it'" Chernaik, DNB. London: Printed for J. Dodsley in Pall-Mall, 1791. Sixth Edition; New Edition. Leather. Substantial wear to leather bindings, but otherwise very good with prior owner name in ink to title pages but contents otherwise rather bright.. Largely lost to obscurity in modernity, Shenstone was of significant influence in the latter half of the eighteenth century. Robert Burns referred to him as of of his favorite authors, and later referenced Shenstone in the Kilmarnock edition of his poems, with utmost praise, calling him "that celebrated poet whose divine Elegies do honour our language, our nation, and our species." Volumes one and two are the sixth edition, with volume three the new edition (and which accords to ESTC). Fold out map and numerous plate illustrations throughout. London: Charles Dolman, 1851. First Edition. Very good pamplet without wrappers as issued.. First edition of Pugin's pamphlet wherein he again attempted to venture into theological matters creating quite a controversy, and one of the last works he wrote prior to his death in 1852. Belcher A56.

Hannover [und Leipzig]: Hahn'sche Buchhandlung, 1898. Very good rebound in leather by noted Leipzig bookseller K.F. Koehler with his discreet label, original spine-titles laid down, covers rubbed, contents age toned with some browning and occasional chips to edges. A pleasantly bound copy with esteemed provenance.. Sydney C. Cockerell's copy, with his signature and abbreviated address on the front free endpaper in each volume. Cockerell was a friend of Ruskin and Morris, and notably served as secretary to the Kelmscott Press and as Morris's literary executor. This essential reference work, never translated from German, assists users in calculating dates based upon various liturgical groups and events. The dozens of tables of course include the dating of Advent in various years as well as noting Nativitas domini on December 25th. 4to. vi, [3], 214pp., 148 tables + iv, 249; vi, [2], 210pp. Three parts in two volumes (as normally seen), half-morocco and marbled boards.

Philadelphia: Joseph Crukshank, 1786. Paper wrappers, chipped and soiled throughout, with paper over spine missing and front wrap almost off. Lightly ex-library otherwise good.. An Early American imprint. Sabin 39326; Evans 19755. Small 8vo. [1], viii, 132 pp.

London: Frederick Muller Ltd, 1945. First Edition. Very good without dust jacket.. First edition featuring a presentation inscription from C.H. Bretherton's wife to the wife of Kenneth Grahame on the flyleaf. Bretherton was a frequent contributor to Punch magazine and an enthusiastic support of Grahame. Poems was published after the death of both Bretherton and Grahame, hence the inscription to/from their respective spouses.

Stourbridge: Heming and Tallis, 1814. The rare sole edition of the separately printed pamphlet, containing excerpts of Banck's A Short Critical Review of the Political Life of Oliver Cromwell. . ., originally published in 1739 (though many of the passages in the instant work are lifted verbatim not from the 1739 first edition but the 1742 second edition). This edition largely removes Banck's polemic and commentary, leaving only 21 pages from a work originally running over 300 pages. 12mo. [2], [7]-28pp., frontis. Apparently unrecorded with no copies located on OCLC or Library Hub as of November 2021. Good in modern paper boards, stamped number to endpaper, pages rather age-toned, edges a bit ragged, one leaf loose but present.

London: Smith, Elder & Co, 1912. Centenary Edition. Contemporary half red morocco gilt, top edge gilt with some wear to extremities and almost all boards detached. Given that this is a ten volume set, additional shipping will be quoted at cost.. Limited edition, being number 492/526 of the "Centenary Edition." An autograph letter signed by Browning is tipped in volume one. As other examine copies of the Centenary Edition include tipped in letters, it is certainly possible this was done by a publisher or early bookseller. 10 volumes. 8vo.

New York: Sheldon & Company, 1867. Later edition. Very good with some foxing and prior owner signature to front pastedown.. A scarce printing, which appears to be unrecorded on Worldcat. Part of Sheldon's "Good Boy's Library" as indicated on the spine and which were apparently previously part of Sheldon's "Sunday School Books" library. In publisher's green cloth with gilt stamp decorated spine.

New York: A. Simpson & Co, 1867. First Edition thus. In publisher's maroon cloth with gilt spine, Very good with some bumping to cloth boards.. Signed and inscribed by Cozzens on the flyleaf. This edition has a colorful bibliographical history. Erroneously listed in Wright II 649 for the 1868 edition under the authorship of Cozzens. BAL 4010 corrects; Halkett II, 273. The edition here precedes both Wright and BAL. Included in this copy is correspondence from the Beinecke Library politely declining to purchase this particular volume, but including a copy of correspondence between Blanck and Gallup regarding the difference between the 1867 and 1868 editions, with Gallup requesting an additional entry in BAL regarding the same. Denman's bibliography of Ferguson states that "Preface" in this edition speculates as to the identity of the author and differs significantly from the "Ante-Preface" in the 1868 edition which corrects the misattribution, as Ferguson admitted to authorship the prior… Read More
