Contemporary dark green half morocco (some minute rubbing and some occasional slight discolouring), In compartments gilt lettered and decorated. With 35 engraved (steel-engravings) plates.. Cahiers I-VI, all that have been published, and complete sets, like our's, are quite rare. Cahier II-VI in first edtitions, Cahier I in 3rd edition. The catalogue BM(NH) list only the 5th Cahier in 3rd edition; Not in Wood.--(Some scattered light foxing or brownings as usual for French books from this epoque; the Cahier V has a few pages with some light ink stains in the outer marging; lower corner of the rear side has a slight crack).

Contemporary half roan with 5 raised bands (some very minor rubbing), marbled boards; entirely uncut. Title and half-title printed in red and black, one folding table, devices and initial letters, a nice vignette, and 36 very fine, large folding, engraved plates. ¶ A very fine copy, printed on heavy paper with ample uncut margins, and the plates in good sharp impressions. Swammerdam is considered the most accurate of classical microscopists, who was first to observe and described red blood cells. Originally published in two volumes in 1737-1738 through the care of Herman Boerhaave, this work is probably the finest work of microscopical observations produced by Swammerdam, and in many way unsurpassed until the present. With 26 folding engraved plates. ¶ Bierens de Haan 4400. - Only edition of this uncommon work on the constructions of sundials. The author taught mathematics and astronomy at the Amsterdam Athenaeum. Fine copy of a work that rarely appears on the market. A number of leaves have annotations in the outer margin in a fine contemporary handwriting.

Contemporary full marbled calf, spine with raised bands and in compartments gilt decorated with floral design; contemporary marbled end-papers; speckled edges (corners very slightly bumped and worn; hinges show some light traces of use, but a solid and attractive binding). With a few woodcut figures in the text. ¶ Lindeboom 315. First published at Leiden in 1917, this is the first edition printed in France but without Boerhaave's consent (all Cavelier Boerhaave imprints are pirate editions). "One of Boerhaave's pupils published an adaptation of his "Libellus de materie medica", greatly amplified from the lectures of his master. One of the rarest of all Dutch 18th century obstetrical books. Worldwide there are only 4 copies in library holdings (NLM, UBA, UBL & UBU), and haven't been offered for sale for decades. First, posthumously, published in 1727, this "tweden druk" is nothing more than a remainder of the sheets of the 1727 edition with a new title-page, dated 1735. Because of the great rarity of this work, its importance have been ignored by most of the historians of obstetrics (i.a. von Siebold). Johannes Huwé was born at Haarlem, promoted MD at Groningen in 1699. As a pupil of Van Deventer, he devoted most of his life to Obstetrics. Very finely bound in recent half marbled calf, gilt lettered on red morocco labels, gilt numbered, 5 blind rullers on spine. With 1 folded table. ¶ Of greatest rarity, only 5 copies held in libraries worldwide(the Netherlands), but no copy with this variant title-page, e.g. vol. I with the date 1849 instead of 1846, and Moleschott's name as translator omitted. First (and only) Dutch translation of Rokitansky's "Handbuch d. speciellen Pathologische Anatomie", one of the great classics in medical history. A very fine copy in a splendid binding.-- (Title-pages slightly browned; half-title of volume II seems to be lacking; Copy with the cancelled library stamp, Univ. of Amsterdam!).

"Bouvart, physician and doctor regent of the faculty of Paris, and associate-veteran of the Academy of Science, was born a Chartres. Preserved in the original double slipcase (slightly discoloured). Finely printed in red and black on "vélin Alfama filigrané des Papéteries du Marais" in 2000 numbered copies (here #1349). With facsimiles and book decorations throughout. A nice and clean copy of this classic. This text is based on the bilinguel edition published by in 1595 by the physician from Metz, Anuce Foés (1528-1595) which had numerous notes : its Greek text remains nearly exactly the same as it was in 1538, whereas its Latin translation is often retranslated. See Choulant, "Handbuch".

Sides richly tooled in gold, panel design with drawer handle motifs and interlacings à la pointillé. Spine with 6 raised bands, in compartments gilt decorated with floral motifs (outer corners of sides very slightly rubbed). With an engraved frontispiece and 5 engraved plates. ¶ A very rare exemple of a frivolously binding on a Calvinistic work. There are not many Dutch (speudo) Fanfare bindings known.

Paris & Londre: J.-B. & H. Baillière,, 1846.. 3 volume, [iv], VIII, 635, [i]; [iv], 589;[iv], 648 pp. 8vo (14.5 x 22,5 cm). Contemporary dark brown half morocco, spine with 5, gilt rulled, raised bands; glt lettered (top of spine of the first volume with some loss of leather;som slight rubbing; 3 lower corners slightly bumped). ¶ Rozet A 366. The very rare second, (only a few copies in the WorldCat), and much expanded, edition of this important text. Hahnemann wrote this work in Paris during the last years of his life. In this work Hahnemann gives the history of 22 medicines and their application in chronic diseases. It is an indispensable complement to his "Organon". It is Hahnemann's last work, and includes in extension his "Psora-Lehre". --(A usual with the Baillière publication of this period, foxed throughout the volumes).

Contemporary half green grained morocco; spine with 5 raised bands, gilt lettered, in compartments gilt decorated with floral motive; hand made marbled boards and marbled end-papers; top edges gilt; original printed wrapper bound in; preserved in a matching slipcase. With 103 fine plates in helio-engraving, depicting 153 miniatures. Title printed in red and black. ¶ A superb, and finely bound large paper copy, being one of the 25 copies printed on "papier à la cuve des Papeteries d'Arches". A very fine faultless 'de luxe' copy. Durrieu, “seigneur de l’histoire de l’art médiéval” was one of the greatest illuminated manuscripts specialist, who wrote many standard works in that field.

Modern blind blue wrappers and end-papers, uncut. ¶ First edition in Dutch of the first monograph on the anatomy of the elder, originally published in 1799 (Erlangen) under the title "Anatomiae corporis humani senilis specimen". Seiler was the founder of surgical anatomy in Germany, and this was his first work.-- (Separate from: Verhandelingen en Waarneemingen t.b.d. Genees- Heel- Verlos- en Scheikunde, Uitgegeven door H.A. With a fine allegorical engraved frontispiece by H. Roberts after a drawing by Samuel Wale, title printed in red and black & with a fine title-engraving by C. Grigion after S. Wale, and 75 plain engraved plates by various artists, depicting about 1500 plant portraits. ¶ First edition. A good copy of this renown and popular British Herbal. The copper plates are in sharp impressions, and not ruined by being crudely coloured as in the coloured copies.
