The describes the space and process of the project, printed with a vertical panorama of the garden situated between two buildings. Housed in hinged wooden box with Latex glove, flower seeds, and plastic horse. Scott McCarney,: " This book documents a version of a piece that has been installed/performed privately in my garden in Rochester NY for the past eight years. It started as a tribute to my father, who died at his home in Virginia from lung cancer in 2001. When told he had three weeks to six month to live, he chose to move from hospital to hospice care at home. That was Friday. We had a nice weekend together before he passed away the following Tuesday, much to the surprise of his doctor. Being with him those last few days, I understood his will to die was as strong as his will to live had been.

[2] leaves of plates. Illustrated, in all, with 11 engraved plates. Third edition, corrected. New Improvements and the Kalendar were often found bound together as such. Bradley (ca. 1688-1732) was an English botanist and gardener, appointed to be the first Professor of Botany at Cambridge University, a Fellow of the Royal Society, and the first to publish a pineapple recipe in English. Fussell (Old English Farming Books) provides Bradley an entire chapter, but only on the grounds that Bradley was the most prolific author of the period 1700-1730. Very good, with all plates present, rebound in modern half-calf, with raised bands and ornamented compartments. [Fussell, page 108].

Blue Boards with gilt tiles on spine and front and gilt flower design. Top edge gilt, deckle edge on side and bottom. 4 page sections with collation numbers show some gaps between them but no page loosening. Rubbing to edges, corners and spine ends. Spine ends are softened and top one has a small chip. Some light spotting on cover. Free endpapers are severely age tanned. Only title page shows foxing. Fan book structure with tie closure at the handle/spine. In stiff green paper open-ended envelope. Signed and numbered by the artist. Each book varies slightly because of the handcoloring. Goodale continues her documentation of imperiled fauna with Maine's Alpine Marsh Violet. The viola palustris in Maine is "critically imperiled because of extreme rarity or vulnerability to extirpation."

Hubbard, with his signature in both books. Several relevant offprints inserted, and an original photograph of a pressed bamboo specimen. [The second ever facsimile printing. It is printed on slightly tanned paper and has a good "feel" to it, similar to an earlier book.]. Half-Leather. Very Good.

Illustrated with three simple hand-coloured plates, octavo, pp xii, 378, extremely clean and sound inyternally, half calf and marbled boards, raised bands and leather label to the spine, very slight signs of wear. With the armorial bookplate of Sir Charles William Hamilton, 2nd Baronet, and his small neat signature on the title page. [Phillips lived much of his life on the south coast, and gained a national reputation as a landscape gardener. His first plan for the development of a lrge site in Kemp Town, Brighton, was rejected, but the second attempt five years later was accepted. His grandiose Anthaeum project, an elaborate indoor botanical garden topped by "the largest dome in the world", ended in disaster when the structure spectacularly collapsed just before its official opening. Two volumes, thick 12mo, pp xxxii, 446; xvi, 482, illustrated with three engraved plates (one folding), two folding tables and many hundreds of charming small woodcut illustrations within the text, a little age-toning, a slight bruise to the base of some pages in the second volume, but generally clean and unmarked. Bound in a contemporary full calf, scuffed and rubbed with wear at the corners, but still sound, marbled endpapers and speckled edges; the first volume lacks the half-title and the hinge at the title page is a little cracked but very firm; the second volume has an early neat repair to the half-title. Still an attractive set.[Gilibert (1741 - 1814) was a French politician, botanist, freemason, medical doctor and member of the Academy of Sciences, Humanities and Arts of Lyon.] . Full-Leather. Illustrated with one folding plate (a plan of a forcing frame), small octavo, pp xxxvi, 428, + errata leaf, edges untrimmed, original boards, rubbed and a little worn, recently re-backed with paper spine and label. There is offsetting from the plate to the opposite page of text and some foxing to the plate and occasionally throughout the book, but this is not heavy. The section on vine cultivation has seven pages on which some instructions have been underlined in ink, but this has been done so neatly that it almost looks as though it it part of the printing. Lovely copy of this infamous and rare botanical by a woman artist.Henrietta Maria Moriarty turned to botanical illustration to support her four children after being left in debt by her no-good, late husband in 1804.Complete with all 50 hand-coloured copperplate engravings, dedication to Dowager Lady de Clifford, preface, list of subscribers, index.While Moriarty claims to have "delineated" the plants, the "plates are in almost every case adapted with slight alteration and no acknowledgement from Curtis' Botanical Magazine" (James Briteen, Journal of Botany, 1917.)The list of 174 subscribers includes many aristocrats, ladies and Army officers, perhaps introduced by the dedicatee, Sophia Southwell, Lady de Clifford (1743-1828), who was a keen amateur gardener and botanical artist herself. With 79 engraved plates, of which 11 are double (double plates with two Pl. numbers). The fruits include many varieties of apples, pears, plums, figs, cherries and strawberries as you would expect in a British orchard, but there are also many grape varietals (Muscadine, Frontinac, Lombard, Brick, Burgundy, Esperione, Claret, White Raisin, etc.) to remind the reader that wine grapes had been grown in England since the Roman era.
Batty Langley (1696-1751) was an English gardener from Twickenham, who later became a landscape gardener, Freemason, and finally architect promoting the Gothic Revival.
