Fair+/good– overall condition. 1904 First Edition, New York: Fleming H. Revell. Hardcover. Maroon boards with decorative embossing. Gilt on spine. No DJ. Previous owners' names inscribed on ffep. Text is free of marks, underlining, and highlighting. Tanning of pages throughout. Small piece torn from lateral edge of p 39; gutter between pp 60 & 61 and pp 108 & 109 is somewhat weakened. Superficial creasing to upper corner of pp 127 – 147. Crease/small tear to upper corner (near spine) of pp 205 to the end of the book. Slight discoloration/dried glue of lower spine (where private library label removed??). Moderate cover wear with sound bumping of corners and slight bowing of both boards.

Extremely rare A.W. Pink work. To my knowledge, this is the only First Edition available online. Some browning/mild foxing of endpapers; cracking of front hinge; boards intact. Previous owner's name written along top edge of title page. Underlining in pencil (mostly neat) on pp 11-76 & 204-209. Small ink notations in margins of pp 30, 35, 36. Large ink smudge on p 36 (see photo); text readable. Tanning of pages and browning of gutter throughout book. Two dog-eared pages——297 & 299; lower corners of pp 125-134 are creased. Includes Appendix and advertisements. Moderate wear/fine spotting to cover with bumping of corners (see photo). Partially circular discoloration of front cover (photo).

Extremely rare antiquarian work. Two books bound in one: "Of the Death of Christ" 1650, 97 pp.; "A Vindication of the Late Reverend and Learned John Owen D.D. by a friendly scrutiny into the merits, and manners of Mr. Rich. Baxters opposition to twelve arguments concerning worship by the lyturgy" 1684, 40 pp. Both are FIRST EDITIONS. Repair to first Title page (please see photo), 33-45 (tiny tear), second Title page (photo) & bottom of last page (photo). Small open tear to lateral edge of pp. 31 & 79. Foxing/browning throughout. Signed by John Brown on first Title page; it is not known whether or not he is the John Brown of Haddington, but his signature (on top) can be compared with signature found in book (on bottom) — see photo. Amateur binding in modern calf in very good condition; binding sound. Additional photos upon request.

19th-century rebinding; cloth on boards. Inscriptions dated 1871 & 1956 on ffep. The text-block appears to have been cropped when rebound. Foxing & browning of pages throughout. Text is free of marks, notes & underlining. Front hinge reinforced with clear tape; rear hinge cracked. Chipping of front board; heavy wear to spine edges; damage to spine top with missing decorative cloth. Spine has gilt lettering & decorative design. Word underlining on pages 39 & 41; marginal notes on 303; otherwise text is clean; tanned with age. Notations inscribed on endpapers; ffep price-clipped. Upper tips of pages 279 - 303 creased. Rubbing of spine ends & cover corners. Tiny cut marks of lateral board edges. Decorative/embossed green boards/spine typical to the turn of the century.
