New York: Dodd, Mead and Company, 1911. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. First American edition. Octavo. Illustrated with a frontispiece plate by A.I. Keller. Publisher's dark blue cloth stamped in gold and black on front cover and spine. A fine copy in very good letter embossed dust jacket printed in blue and gold, with publisher's cancel price on spine. The jacket front panel and spine are modestly faded, a few nicks and small closed tears at head and tail of spine and corners, two small tape mends on verso of spine. An early "real romance, that weaves in and out through the life of a sun-kissed English farm," and the basis for a 1920 silent film directed by Fred Paul. A beautiful copy in a scarce, well-preserved dust jacket.
