Red boards, stated first edition, 877 pages. Spine faded, front and rear mottled as from uneven fading, smudged on bottom edge, two tears (1/2 inch and 1/16 inch) at head of spine, backstrip pulled away at head of spine, previous owner's name and address in pencil on ffep, price in pencil and two 1/8 inch holes (as though something once attached) on ffep, pages darkened, thumbing on reverse of fly title page and following 3 pages, else pages clean. Overall, very good minus. Rare signed copy. . Signed by Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good Minus/No DJ. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

8vo, softcover stitched in publisher's signature blue wrappers, uncut pages, 318pp. Stated fifth printing, January 1939. Wrappers creased at corners, closed tears to top and bottom edges of spine, creasing to spine and to outer edge of rear wrapper. Pages internally clean though age toned, brittle with fragile binding. A nice example of the original Paris edition of Miller's famously expurgated work, preserved in shrink wraps.

In good condition. Brod is generally remembered as the close friend, biographer, and literary executor of Franz Kafka, but he was also a successful and prolific author in his own right. Cover has been restored. Very good condition. No dust jacket.
