This hardcover in original blue cloth boards with full colour plate and green lettering to the spine, is beautifully illustrated in colour by Maud and Miska Petersham. Previous owner sticker is neatly affixed to the inside of the front board, there is slight bumping to the top and base of spine and a small scratch to the colour plate, otherwise this lovely copy is in fine condition.

St. Ives: Being The Adventures of a French Prisoner in England (1897) is an unfinished novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was completed in 1898 by Arthur Quiller-Couch. Unable to write, Stevenson dictated thirty chapters of the novel to his stepdaughter as a diversion from his debilitating illness. He alternated dictating St. Ives and The Weir of Hermiston but gradually lost interest in the former. The plot concerns the adventures of the dashing Capitaine Jacques St. Ives, a Napoleonic soldier, after his capture by the British. Condition: Corners bumped and rubbed, shelf wear, hinges and spine heal moderately rubbed, previous owner's name on front end paper else a very good copy.
