Quarto contemporary panelled calf (rebacked & blind-tooled with black spine label/tips worn) 336pp +(vi)index The Ae of Aquaticae & Noxae are very faintly printed on the Titlepage and there is slight paper thinning to the paper in 4 small (1cm diameter) round areas and part of 2 letters have been strengthened with ink. Wepfer was the first to analyze the pharmacological effect of hemlock and its poison. In this treatise 1679 the author also reports the discovery of the duodenal glands.

Venetiis: Ex Typographia Remondiniana , 1763 A good copy in full vellum. Lacks the frontispiece portrait but is otherwise complete. Giovanni Battista Morgagni was an Italian anatomist who was Professor of Anatomy at the University of Padua. He maintained his practice in pathology and through his clinical observation of precise detail and his methodical rigour, he has been termed the 'father of modern anatomical pathology'. His major work - Adversaria Anatomica - established his reputation in the field. This is a collection of his minor works including on the death of Cleopatra, and on gallstones. Starting with a question, there are LXXXIIII propositions and Appendix. Some creases to titlepage and margin of one other leaf else exceptionally clean and crisp. *Sebastian Bloss was Professor of Medicine at Heidelberg in 1584, later at Ulm and finally in Tuebingen where he died.His most famous work was on the plague. Scarce - only 3 copies in German libraries none in the UK,but not in GM, Durling, Waller, Wheeler or Wellcome.

Contemporary marbled calf, spine with raisen bands, gilt lettered (top & bottom rubbed with some slight loss of leather; some scattered rubbing at spine; hinges parly worn), marbled edges. Title printed in red and black. With a fine engraved title vignet by S. Fokke. ¶ The very rare first edition. Later editions Amsterdam 1755 & 1760. --(Lower corner of title-page neatly repaired; a split in the bookblock between page 416-417; text partly slightly browned, but a very acceptable copy of this rare item). China, [circa 1850]. Carved wooden hanging sign (67 x 16 cm). Lacquered and with the original decorative iron handle. Some wear, particularly at the ends and sides, and peeling of the lacquer across the face, some rusting of the iron handle which is still strong. An attractive mid-19th century Chinese pharmacy sign advertising deer musk and turtle-based medications. The wooden sign is carved and lacquered in red and black, and features the original, decorative iron handle.
