Wright wrote as a critic and journalist until 1923, when he became ill from what was given out as overwork, but was in reality a secret drug addiction, according to John Loughery's biography Alias S.S. Van Dine. His doctor confined him to bed (supposedly because of a heart ailment, but actually because of a cocaine addiction) for more than two years. Although photo of limitation page shows later copy, this book is Y of 104 lettered copies. Bound in quarter morocco and marbled boards. Signed by Satterthwait on the limitation page. Satterthwait's fictional account of how Black Mask writer Raoul Whitfield might have gotten away with murdering his socialite wife, Emily Vanderbilt Whitfield at their ranch near Las Vegas, New Mexico. This is a very intriguing read, that may have some degree of truth to it.

This is copy VVV of 104 such copies, signed by Truluck on the limitation page. Truluck's third novel is far different than his first two - involving 1930s mobsters and a hit man on the run, centered in contemporary Florida, but with action ranging from Seattle to Ohio, to Texas, and even to Cuba. It's a great read.
