Self published, 1924. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. privately printed.. VG blue hardcover w/gilt lettering. 1924. Privately printed. Rough edges. Some Uncut pages at top in no pattern. 'Old Stratford' WATERMARK to front text edges - visible when held to light. Mild darkening to FFEP and front pastedown when protector must have been on book. Pages all appear clean and unmarked. Lightest chipping to front text edges. Mild scuffs to covers othewise covers bright, bold, clean and solid. A BEAUTIFUL COPY. 198 pp. EXTREMELY SCARCE title. Henry Ferguson journals of his account on the 'Hornet', a Clipper ship that sailed from NY to CA in the year 1866. The vessel caught fire and the crew/passengers were evacuated into 3 boats - one of which traveld 4000 miles to the Hawaiian islands. There, Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) was touring the islands interviewing the surviors of the accident and this story was the 1st article published that gained him a readership as a journalist..
