Some Afrikaners Revisited
by Goldblatt, David - Photographs; Essays by Antjie Krog and Ivor Powell
Roggebaai, South Africa: Umuzi, 2007. Cloth bound hardback in dust jakcet. First edition. AS NEW. 236 pages; 98 full-page, b&w photographic plates plus 23 text illustrations and authors photo; 10.5 x 11 inches. #244 from an edition limited to 300 hardback copies. SIGNED BY GOLDBLATT and numbered on a tipped in page. In 1975, Goldblatt published Some Afrikaners Photographed, a photo essay put together by him in the 1960s. It caused an outcry among some Afrikaners who were aggrieved at what they considered ridicule with malignant intent. Goldblatt's concern, however, was an exploration of the relationship between individual South Africans and the society they live in. This new issue offers an additional twenty images from the '60s that were not included in the original book, different cropping to many of the photos, as well as Goldblatt's notes on how the books came into being. FREE SHIPPING, insurance and tracking within the US by Priority Mail. Careful and secure packaging.

Description:
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1951. This is the 2nd edition published 3 years after the original first edition. This copy signed and inscribed by Laughlin. Unpaginated, but 100 beautiful full-page black and white plates. This copy is signed by Laughlin and a friend. This is a very good cloth copy, with some foxing mainly to the page-edges (visible when book is closed), and also to endpapers. Plates clean. Slight wrinkling to the bottom portion of the pages. The dust jacket is 95% there, missing a small fragment from the top of the spine, and a smaller chip out of the top right corner of the front panel (it just cuts off the corner of the "M" in Mississippi), also a few folds and creases on the edges. Still, a beautiful book, in pretty good shape, and quite rare signed. 13" high X 10" wide. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking.. Signed by Author. 2nd Edition. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good.

Description:
Routledge, 1990. 8vo size trade paperback; 390 pages including index From back: "This is a unique study, continuing the work of Merleau-Ponty and Heidegger, and using the techniques of phenomenology against the prevailing nihilism of our culture. It expands our understanding of the human potential for spiritual self-realization by interpreting it as the developing of a bodily-felt awareness informing our gestures and movements. The author argues that a psychological focus on our experiences of well-being and pathology as embodied beings contribute significantly to a historically relevant critique of idealogy. It also provides an essential touchstone in experience for a fruitful individual and collective response to the dangers of nihilism." Edgewear, moderate wear to covers with sunned spine; marginalia, underlining and very light highlighting on least 58 pages prior to page 107; two previously folded page corners, some stray ink marks on outside pages.
