The formation of this railroad began on paper in 1865. Through various corporations and name changes, eventually this narrow gauge line became part of the Colorado & Southern, a subsidiary of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy which in turn was controlled by the Hill Lines, the Great Northern and Northern Pacific Railways.
