FIRST EDITION 1885, DELUXE BINDING, 102 x 76 mm, 4 x 3 inches, original publisher's cream fake morocco, triple gilt ruled border and gilt lettering to upper cover, blind ruled border to lower cover, all edges gilt, bright yellow endpapers, (24) pages. Coloured frontispiece, title vignette and 12 large coloured illustrations in the text for the months, plus 4 full page coloured illustrations of little girls, one for each season, followed by 2 pages each with a coloured illustration of a young woman and a toddler with a 4 line verse below. Hair-line vertical surface crack to both covers next to spine, no inscriptions, light browning to half-title and final page naming the printer, faintest offsetting from coloured illustrations onto a few pages.
