First Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Ex-library book ( Doncaster) with bookplates, bar-code and stamps, all plates are stamped. Library rebind in firm red covers with red spine and dark red leather spine-label with gilt lettering. Oxfordshire and Nottinghamshire parts are separately paginated and indexed (543 and 411) and were probably originally bound in separate volumes (Nottinghamshire is usually bound in the same volume as Northumberland). Both sections have a bibliography of "books, maps and prints which have been published Illustrative of the Topography, Antiquities etc". There is a vignette title-page and a plain title-page for the Oxfordshire section but no title-page for the Nottinghamshire section. Plates are: title-vignette of Oxford; Oxford including Magdalen Bridge, College, Radcliffe Library and St Mary's Church; Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford; The Tower of Magdalen College, Oxford; Clarendon Printing House and the Theatre; St Peter's in the East, Oxford; Saint Mary Magdalen's Church; Nunenham Courtenay; Henley-On-Thames; Shiplake Church and Parsonage; Grey's Court, Oxfordshire; Bleinheim Castle; Witney Church; Minster Lovel Priory; Blandford House, Oxfordshire; Nottingham from the North Road; Excavations at Sneinton; Excavations, Sneinton, Nottinghamshire (2); Wollaton Hall, Nottinghamshire; Colwick Hall; North Front of Staunton Hall; Southwell Church; Newstead Abbey, Nottinghamshire.
