Signature taken from a Signed Limited Edition and affixed professionally by a bookbinder. First edition first printing with "First Edition" stated on the copyright page with no subsequent printings. Bound in the first issue olive colored cloth. Published by Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1944. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Novel (Fiction) in 1945. Measures 5.5" x 8", 269 pages. With its original dust jacket. The dust jacket is in good condition. Light creasing to the edges, with small chips at the flap folds. Sunning to the spine with chips and wear at the edges and creasing at the folds. The original price of $2.50 is present on the front flap. The book is in near fine condition. The boards are very well preserved with firm edges. The black and red titling and illustration on the front board and spine is vibrant and intact. The front board is slightly cocked. Some toning to the gutters. Two small dings to the bottom edge of the textblock. The contents are gently toned, clean, bright, unmarked, and complete. The binding is sound.
