The 14th book in Kaminsky's highly-praised, lightly-humorous, historical mystery series set California during World War II and featuring Hollywood private detective, Toby Peters, This time, Peters is hired by Gen. Douglas MacArthur to retrieve stolen documents that could wreck the General's career. Peters gets some assistance from a Pinkerton detective named Hammett and their search leads them to a mysterious tycoon, kidnapping and murder. Small remainder mark on bottom edge of text, very light foxing on top edge and fore edge, o/w boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square. Dustjacket shows only a touch of wear at corners, mild rubbing. No tears, no creasing or chipping, not price-clipped. Collectable.
