B. W. Robinson, a renowned Kuniyoshi scholar, fillls this need by telling the stories most frequently portrayed. Kuniyoshi was one of the most prolific of the Ukiyo-e artists, and in the descriptive catalogue of the warrior-prints, which forms the greater part of this volume, Robinson lists over 350 triptychs (large three-sheet compositions) and some 1,500 single-sheet scenes arranged in series".
