Complete 2 volume set bound in brown leather along the spine and at the corners over marbled paper boards, spines have the title in a reddish-brown box along with raised bands with gilt stamping, color frontis and b/w illustrations in the text, 768 and 733 pages. Translated from the French editions with variations and additions by Thomas Johnes to which are prefixed A Life Of the Author, An Essay on His Works, and A Criticism on His History. The leather is a bit scuffed and starting to crack along the joints but the hinges are still secure, marbled panels are scuffed especially where the leather along the spine joins the panels, end papers show marginal discoloration from contact with the leather on the cover and are cracking in spots along the hinges along with bookplates from two different previous owners, paper is lightly age toned and has occasional spotting. Images available. USPS tracking used on all domestic shipments. This set weighs over 7 pounds and will need additional postage for Priority or International shipment.. Later Edition. Half-Leather.
