About This Item

Jonathan Cape, New York, 1981. First American Edition. First Impression. Very attractive copy in blue cloth and tan boards with gilted title embossed on both front board and spine.

A very good + book, clean except for a bookplate and a prev owner's name on the front endpaper. A very good unclipped jacket with some light edgewear a little clear tape on the edge.

The Comfort of Strangers is British writer Ian McEwan's second novel. Harold Pinter adapted it as a screenplay for a movie of the same name in 1990.

Synopsis

Haunting and compelling, -The TimesAs their holiday unfolds, Colin and Maria are locked into their own intimacy. They groom themselves meticulously, as though there waits someone who cares deeply about how they appear. Then they meet a man with a disturbing story to tell and become drawn into a fantasy of violence and obsession.
