Bright and handsome volume in the LEC's Ninth Series, being the prolific French poet and journalist's very first novel (first published 1881), with rear colophon noting limitation of 1500 numbered copies (this #1137) signed by illustrator Sauvage. Publisher's heavy stock 5½" X 3½" printed announcement card laid in. NEWMAN 96.
