About This Item
London, Printed for G. & T. Wilkie; and E. Easton, Salisbury, 1785. The third edition. With a half-title. Enormously wealthy as a result of an inheritance, Bubb was patron to Frederick, Prince of Wales, and to poets and writers such as Henry Fielding. He was the center of espionage gathered against the Jacobites. This diary, remarkably frank in showing the seeking of government positions, was first published in 1784. This edition includes new material that was subsequently suppressed. Hard Cover. Octavo; xv, [1], 504 pages; 22 cm. VG; bound in a beautiful three-quarter leather binding by Hope Bindery. Stock#NS0274.
