The author is actually Henry Keepe writing under the pseudonym of Charles Taylour. 'The Holy State and the Profane State' is a 17th-century book by English historian Thomas Fuller. Through maxims and short commentary, Fuller describes the roles and life of every member of the holy state and the profane state (i.e., good people vs. bad people) – instruction on how to live a good life for wives, husbands, and children, physicians, merchants, notes on how to travel, service roles for bishops, and others. Fuller balances the roles of good living with those who live the 'profane' life – hypocrites, liars, atheists, tyrants, witches (including the Witch of Endor), and even comments on Joan of Arc as a villain!

1653 PURITAN 1ed Christopher Love BIBLE Sermons on Heaven RARE Cromwell Martyr

Christopher Love was a Welsh preacher who is best remembered for being executed in 1651 by the English for his role in the plots against the English government and restore Charles II as King. During his lifetime, Love's Puritan sermons were highly sought after, however, during the English Civil War his sermons were considered treason which ultimately landed him in prison.

Love delivered a series of sermons entitled "Heavens Glory, Hells Terror" – a two part treatise of dozens of sermons. This first part includes sermons on Jesus's reappearing, his death and resurrection, on receiving eternal life through Jesus, all based on Colossians 3:4 – "When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory". This collection of sermons was published in 1653, two years after his death.

In Fair to Good Condition. The Karen language originates in Northern Thailand, classified as the Tibeto-Burman group of the Sino-Tibetan language family. 22 leaves bound in marbled paper over boards, with cloth spine. Includes one plate, showing Meridians and Parallels, with description also in English. Both title pages and the plate have decorative borders. Covers detached, binding tight, occasional foxing. Hand written paper label on front cover, reads "Karen Catechism is presented by Rev. Dr. Ide". ASSOCIATION COPY. Dr. Rev. Ida was part of the American Baptist Home Mission Society, and received a letter of commendation from President Lincoln for his Christian support of the Country and Liberty. Library marks show as small paper label & written call number on spine, a paper plate inside the front cover, embossing and perforations on some pages.

This first volume of La Sainte Bible qui contient le Vieux et Le Nouveau Testament, commonly called Mortier's Bible, after the name of the printer, is in a good condition. The volume is tightly bound with some tearing of the latter vellum and noticeable discoloration. The text and beautiful engravings remain in excellent condition. Few pages are loose and torn but most have sustained foxing around the edges. This two volume set was created by David Martin [1639 - 1721], was a learned French Protestant theologian.
