London: Henry Clements, 1716. First London Edition. Hardcover. Book condition is Very Good, bound in full leather with embossed decorations, a hubbed spine and gilt titles on spine. Some wear to leather at spine and edges, including some minor cracking. A few small scuffs to front panel. Some toning and minor foxing to interior. No markings to text. 217 pp plus two pages of Contents and four pages of publisher's advertisements. As lives up to Browne's reputation, this volume is a vociferous and ardent attack on the habit of drinking. Browne also wrote on Divine Analogy, which became a noteworthy link in the dialectic between theism and atheism at the time. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall.
