Collection of 22 essays by Cornell professor of anthropology John Victor Murra (1916-2006), scholar specializing in the study of the societies of the Andean Civilization and one of the creators of the concept of "vertical control of a maximum of ecological floors" or vertical archipelago. These texts cover a period of forty years, some of which had never been published in Spanish and appeared only in specialized American journals.
