London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1910 A very good copy of the limited edition of Sleeping Beauty signed by Edmund Dulac. No 598 of 1,000. In the original full morocco leather binding with gilt decoration to boards and spine, with tipped-in frontispiece and 29 further colour plates. Top page edges gilted. The binding has been rebacked, preserving the original spine which has some loss at the top. It is sound and tight with newer endpapers and initial and final blanks. There is slight colour variation to the front board and some scuffing to the middle of the back board. Edges and corners are lightly rubbed. There is a loose flyer for the exhibition of Dulac's art work for the book, which ran from November 19th to Christmas of 1910. Fully illustrated with frontis, decorative title page and 218 pages with decorative engraved borders and many with engraved vignettes inside the border, all by Daniel Maclise. A few small marks to a handful of pages but generally a very bright and clean copy throughout. Finely bound in nineteenth century full red morocco. Spine with double raised bands, each with a wide gilt line between them. Compartments ruled, lettered, and fully decorated in gilt. Both boards with double gilt ruled borders and decorative design within. Board edges bevelled. Marbled endpapers. Elaborate gauffered pages edges, gilt. Decorative gilt turn-ins. Armorial bookplate to the front paste down endpaper. Some rubbing and marking to the binding but overall a lovely copy of this beautiful book.

Spine with gilt ruled lines, floral design and lettering. Front board with ruled panels and floral designs, all in gilt Single gilt ruled border to the rear board and board edges. Gilt inner dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Armorial bookplate of noted author of books on folklore and topography, Sir George Laurence Gomme (1853 - 1916) on the front pastedown. Some offsetting to the endpapers from the leather turn-ins. A little rubbing to the extremities and the spine faded to an attractive brown but overall still a lovely copy of this scarce work in a fine quality binding. The binding is unsigned but is certainly the work of a master bookbinder.

Finely bound, by Riviere and Son, in beautiful early full dark green morocco, extra gilt. The spine with raised bands, dotted in gilt. Compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt, including floral centre pieces. Elaborate floral centre design to boards with gilt tooling over beige leather onlays. Inner Dentelles with ruled and dotted border lines and decorated flowers in the corners, all in gilt surrounding green Moire silk centre pieces. Silk endpapers. All edges gilt. A couple of small dents to the spine and corners. Some creasing to the very edges of one of the blank paper endpapers but otherwise the pages are clean and bright throughout and this is a beautiful copy.

A fine set in highly attractive mid twentieth century leather bindings by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. Finely bound in half dark blue morocco. Spines with raised bands, decorated with gilt piping. Compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Blue cloth on boards. Top edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. A fine set of this wonderfully illustrated edition. The books are undated but Geofrey Beare's bibliography of W. Heath Robinson dates this edition to 1913 and is a smaller version of the magnificent large format 1904 Grant Richards edition. No place. No date. Circa 1870. ILLUSTRATED MANUSCRIPT. Oblong 8vo. (9.4 x 5.5 inches). Longfellow's popular eearly poem, An April day, written in a neat hand on 12 thick paper leaves. Ten of the leaves are beautifully illustrated in watercolour by an unknown but very skilled artist. Bound in attractive nineteenth century full red morocco. Spine with multiple gilt ruled lines and three raised bands. Both boards have a highly decorative gilt roll and ruled lines border around a double ruled and corner decorated blind tooled panel. The front board has the title and author lettered in gilt. Gilt inner dentelles and yellow coated endpapers. All edges gilt. A little rubbing to the extremities but overall a beautiful volume in very good condition.
