London: Tylston and Edwards, 1894. Book. Illus. by 4 Color Plates, 2 Maps and 6 Small Text Illustrations, Complete as Called for. Fine. Decorative Cloth. Memorial Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Memorial Edition. This was Burton's first excursion into East Africa, in which he almost got himself and his party killed. Wonderful, bright plates, as in the first edition except "The Fal" was not included in this edition. Pages xxxiv, 209 and (xii), 276 with index, plus 3 pages of publisher ads of Burton works at the end. Cloth bindings in remarkably nice condition, with bright gilt turbaned man and tent on boards and bright gilt titles on the spines. A beautiful set with no foxing, no stains and no prior owner marks. Protected in clear, mylar dustjackets..
