About This Item
New York, New York, U.S.A.: Pantheon Books, Inc., 1955. First Thus . Slipcased. Near Fine. Thompson, George W.. Special slipcased edition of this classic book of reflections by a woman whose identity often got subsumed by that of her famous husband, Charles Lindbergh. Here, "the aviator's wife" writes about what it means to be a woman, a wife, a mother, & human being, particularly in the wake of grief, loss, age, war, etc. As inspirational now as when it was first published in 1955, her words here are even more lovely as enhanced by the soft watercolor illustrations created specifically for this edition by George W. Thompson. Unpaginated. Hardcover octavo (6.5" x 9.5") with light blue & silver decorated paper over quarter blue cloth-covered boards, lettered in silver to front & spine. Condition is Near Fine condition: protected in the slipcase all these years, it is virtually pristine! Completely clean, pages creamy off-white with a whisper of tanning. Front endpapers show darkening from old tape. Binding tight & square, hinges intact. Typical for this edition, the spine is heavily sunned. The slipcase is VG- (minus)/Good+, with rubbing to extremities, heaviest at all corners, showing some paper loss there. A lovely gift edition, with a vintage quality that the newer editions just don't have. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
