Has the inevitable discolouration, and a few stains, but the colours are still bright. On rear leaf there is a motif of two bulldogs trying to tear the book apart, with logo "Dean's Rag Books. Quite Indestructible". Despite its blemishes, very true. An unusual item.:

Spine with raised bands, gilt. Single gilt ruled border on boards.Top edge gilt. Original publishers cloth boards with gilt stamped illustration showing Christopher Robin playing with a toy train on front board, and Pooh and Piglit at the train ticket (tikits) office on the back, along with the spine, all bound in at back of the book. Some light offsetting to half title and last text page otherwise a very bright copy.:

Hodder & Stoughton. London. 1906. FIRST EDITION. 4to. (10.2 x 7.7 inches). Illustrated with a colour frontis and forty nine full colour plates, all mounted onto thick art paper pages at back of book, each one with a printed tissue guard. Decorative endpapers with map of Kensington Gardens. A near fine, bright and clean copy throughout in original russet cloth binding with gilt stamped decoration and lettering to front board and spine. Very minor rubbing to hinges and a small bump to the lower front board at the outer corner, but overall a beautiful clean copy of this classic. Among the very best of Rackham's work.

Printed by J. Catnach, 2, Monmouth Court, 7 Dials. London. - No date. Circa 1830. (3.4 x 2.4 inches). 32pp. Sewn into plain yellow paper wraps. Illustrated with ten wood engraved vignettes and decorative head piece on the first page, plus one leaf with four lines of music, for voice and violin, for the song The Southern Breezes. Page edges a bit creased and rubbed and a small stain to the rear blank wrap, but overall a very good copy. Contains a short anti slavery verse, simply entitled The Slave. --- Rare. No copies listed on Worldcat or Copac. "One class of literature which Jemmy Catnach made â by reason of greater mechanical skill and a larger capital than his rivals â almost his own, was children's farthing, halfpenny, and penny books." - The history of the Catnach press by Charles Hindley. 1886. Catnach was publishing at this address between c. 1813 and his retirement in 1838.

Macmillan and Co. London. 1902. FIRST EDITION. Large 8vo. (9.4 x 7.2 inches). Illustrated throughout by the author. A very good copy bound in recent full red morocco leather. Spine with raised bands, the compartments ruled and lettered in gilt. Decorative gilt leaf design border on boards. All edges gilt. Light foxing to the last page otherwise a very good clean copy of this classic work in an attractive leather binding.

(5.1 x 3.5 inches). 3 parts in one volume. 184,108,116pp. Finely bound in recent full dark green panelled calf. Spine with raised bands. Compartments ruled and lettered in gilt. A very good copy. Published 2 years after the English edition.

Thomas Nelson & Sons. London. ND. [1915] 1915. FIRST EDITION. Large 8vo. (9.3 x 701 inches). Illustrated with 12 full page colour plates and line drawings around the text pages opposite each plate, plus illustrated title page, all by Anderson. A little browning to the blank endpapers and a neat previous owner name on the front free endpaper, otherwise a very good, clean copy in the publishers grey cloth covered boards. Full colour illustrated onlay to the front board and green line border, decoration and lettering. Blue cloth spine lettered in dark blue. Aside from some darkening to the plain spine and minor rubbing to the extremities this is a very good copy. The book is undated but the British Library catalogue gives the publication date as 1915.

Louis Janet. Paris. ND. circa 1875. Third edition. Small 8vo. (5.9 x 4.4 inches). xvi, 157pp. Thirteen hand coloured illustrated plates (including extra title page) with movable pull tabs to change the image. An asterisk next to the text tells when the movable should be used to animate the scene. A crease to the top of the half title page and a few minor thumb marks to a handful of leaves, otherwise a very good, fresh and clean copy in the publishers red morocco-grained cloth with blind stamped decorative border to both boards. Gilt lettering to the front board. Coated mid brown endpapers. All edges gilt. A superior copy of this rare movable. First issued in 1831, there was a second issue in 1837 and then this third, circa 1875, with the text printed by Ducessios of Paris. All three printings are rare, and copies in such good condition and with all tabs present and easily workable, as this one even more so. Longmans, Green & Co. London. 1907. FIRST EDITION. First printing. Large 8vo. (8.5 x 6.4 inches). Colour frontis, 22 full page mono plates and hundreds of small engraved vignettes to the margins of the text pages, all by E. Caldwell. This is the scarce first issue with the margin drawings of a dung beetle pushing his load with his front legs rather than his back on pages 65, 337 and 457. These were changed in later issues. Some feint offsetting to the blank endpapers and a few pages with some minor spotting but generally a very bright and clean copy throughout. Publishers original dark green cloth with gilt illustrations and lettering to the front board and the spine. The board edges are lightly rubbed and the gilt just a little dulled but overall a very good copy of this scarce first edition.
