About This Item
London: Geoffrey Bles, 1925. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Kenneth Romney Towndrow. First edition in English of this important science fiction work from the Czech writer, Kapek. Prophetic in detailing the study of an immense power, some have likened to the atomic bomb. Listed in Locke's Spectrum of Fantasy, Anatomy of Wonder, etc. Very good copy in publisher's gray boards with red lettering, and showing minimal wear at spine ends and corners. Clean and tight internally. The scarce jacket is nicely preserved with some shallow chipping and rubbing at head of spine, tanning to spine, and rubbing at joints and folds. Wonderful, striking jacket art by Kenneth Romney Towndrow. Beautiful copy of this classic of the early sci-fi genre.
