246pp + 6pp. Publisher's catalogue to rear. Blindstamped "Review Copy" to corner of title page. Very Good condition. Bottom- and fore edges untrimmed. Partly unopened. Pencil inscription to front endpaper. A touch of rubbing/bumping to the corners, edges and a little light browning to the free endpapers. No dust wrapper called for.

Thirty-one nature essays, never subsequently published in this original form (one story, 'The Outlaw', was excluded from all subsequent reprints). 500 copies were printed.
