About This Item
New York: Macmillan Company, 1949. Hardcover. Good +/Good +. Louise Trevisan. The book pages are clean and fresh, showing minimal wear. There is a gift inscription to a former owner (Christmas 1956) on the top corner of the title page, and a Christmas sticker and a child's drawing on the front end papers. The blue cloth covers are clean, with light wear at edges and corners. The dust jacket is not price-clipped, but is only in Good condition, with chips, edgewear, and damage to the spine area. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover and looks shabby, but still interesting. Synopsis: This is a picture book intended for young Catholic children, explaining adoption in terms of a story about Mr. and Mrs. Bodkin, who had a farm and a very good life, but no children to share it with. They adopt two children, who are baptised and settle into their new life. The book has the imprimatur of Francis, Cardinal Spellman.
