About This Item

London: Richard Bentley, 1856. First edition. Hardcover. Three quarter brown morocco, marbled boards and matching marbled endpapers. Fine. 202 pages. 22.5 x 14.5 cm. Mrs. Fitzherbert, a Catholic widow secretly married the Prince of Wales in 1785. George later denied it and married Princess Christina prompting something of a scandal and a good deal of "blimey".
