About This Item

New York / Tokyo: Weatherhill, 1979. Signed by Yamasaki on the half-title page. Additionally inscribed Dear Don With all the best. First edition / First Printing. Gray linen covered boards. Very fine in a fine dust jacket with minor wear at the tips of the flap folds. An Architect best known for the World Trade Center. The design included many technical breakthroughs, including the fastest elevator system to date. He designed the Pacific Science Center for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, which led to being on the cover of Time Magazine. Other major projects include: The Rainier Tower in downtown Seattle. The aluminum wrapped Reynolds Company Building in Southfield Michigan' Lambert Saint Louis Airport; The Dhahran International Airport in Saudi Arabia. Campus buildings for University of Regina, Saskatchawan; Carleton College In Northfield, Minnesota; Wayne State University. His reputation suffered late in his life with backlash against his style of Modernism, but recent critics have restored his eminence.
