The dust jacket is in very good condition with only very minor overall shelf wear mainly in the form of light edge wear at the spine top and bottom edges plus some light creasing of the bottom front edge plus a small (about 0.25") closed tear at the bottom left corner of the front endflap. A reference tool that turns a collection of the National Geographics into a comprehensive encyclopedia. It catalogs more than 2,500 articles that have appeared in the 445 issues of the magazine issued from January 1947 through December 1983. The heart of the Index includes about 5,000 subject categories & more than 25,000 entries. This edition also includes listings for other Society publications and productions including maps, books and TV programs. Entries are color and symbol-coded. There are word guides above the entry columns and printed alphabetical thumb tabs on each page. Illustrated with color photographs throughout.
