About This Item

New York: St. Martin's Press, 1993. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. The second novel in Monfredo's fine, historically accurate mystery series set in Seneca Falls, NY, site of the first Women's Rights Convention in 1848, again features town librarian, Glynis Tryon. It is 1854, seven years before the Civil War, and Glynis is facing major personal issues as well as taking an active part in local elections and in the Underground Railroad in which Seneca Falls has become an important way station. Add to this the start of Seneca Falls' first theater with a production of Macbeth, and Glynis is being pushed to her limits to keep her life in balance. That's when a killer strikes. Boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. The dustjacket show sa small, closed, quarter-inch tear in the upper edge of the front panel, a bit of other minor edgewear; no significant tears, no creasing or chipping, not price-clipped. Signed and inscribed by Monfredo in her usual manner at the time, crossing out her printed name on the title page, replacing it with her distinctive, hand-printed version, followed by the inscrpition: "For Karen -- Merry Christmas!" and Monfredo's signature and date in the year of publication. A very nice, collectable copy of this historical bibliomystery.
