USA: The Mysterous Press, 1987. 1st Thus . Hardcover in Slipcase. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. One of a numbered, limited edition of 250 copies, of which this is no. 56. Signed by the author, Len Deighton, on the limitation page. [xiv], 242pp. Novel first published in the UK in 1968, but not previously published in the USA, making this a 1st US edition as well. In deep green buckram covers with gilt block lettering to spine. Pale green endpapers. Boards are strong, square, clean and crisp, and internally it is neat, clean, bright and tight. The only flaw is a tiny speck on the leading text block edge. In its original matching deep green slipcase (slipcase a little rubbed around head of open slot). Short comic novel featuring three con-artists, with a new introduction by the author. Leonard Cyril Deighton is a British author whose works include cookery books, history and military history, but he is best known for his spy novels, including the series featuring the unnamed Harry Palmer.
