Hooper Pearson  Editor Present-Day Gardening Series). Introduction by author, and index. Colour photographic frontispiece, showing Cypripedium Insigne Sanderae. Within the text there are another seven coloured plates. Green coloured cloth covered boards with dark green embossed colour title to the front panel and backstrip. There is a square photographic cameo, same photograph as for frontispiece. An early book on the cultivation of orchids. No publication data is readily available, but given the book's production values, probably 1920s. This book is definitely showing its age! Softening to the backstrip edges and to the book corners, underlining board is visible at the book corners. There are 1" tears either side of the top backstrip edge with a horizontal crease connecting them. The rear spine gutter edge has split, on the lower edge, for 2". Heavy rubbing to the book edges and panels with staining noticeable to the lower right-hand corner of the front panel. Heavy offset tanning and browning to the endpapers with lighter browning to the pages with the occasional foxing spot. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [6], VII - XII, [1], 2-114 pages,.
